What is EMSELLA?

EMSELLA represents a new type of technology that provides a non-invasive treatment to treat pelvic floor muscles in cases of urinary incontinence and intimate discomfort. It is currently used in many countries around the world, with very good results in both men and women.

This is a non-invasive, painless procedure with no recovery time, during which patients remain fully clothed and seated in the EMSELLA chair.

The treatment helps patients regain motor control over their bladder and pelvic floor muscles and eliminate urinary incontinence. It is the only procedure that targets all the pelvic floor muscles and through HIFEM®* technology causes deep stimulation in the pelvic floor area.

How does EMSELLA work?

EMSELLA uses High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Energy (HIFEM®) to stimulate the deep pelvic floor muscles without the need to remove clothing. A single session with EMSELLA provides thousands of Kegel-like muscle contractions that cannot be achieved voluntarily, helping you to exercise the muscles effortlessly.

Advantages of EMSELLA

  • A non-invasive procedure that requires no recovery time.
  • During treatment one remains fully clothed.
  • Restores motor control over the bladder and pelvic muscles without time-consuming exercises or pain-producing treatments.
  • A comfortable procedure that lets you relax during the 28 minutes of treatment.
  • You will see improvements after the first session.
  • You will continue to see improvements with the other treatment sessions, that is, over the next few weeks.
  • Final results are obtained after six scheduled sessions twice a week, even up to months after the end of the treatment.
  • Patients have reported a significant reduction in the use of pads and improvement in their quality of life.

IS IT SAFE?

EMSELLA is FDA approved and CE marked for medical devices. It represents the first innovative technology whose effect in treating incontinence and intimate discomfort has been demonstrated in numerous clinical studies.

WHO IS EMSELLA TREATMENT FOR?

EMSELLA treatment is an option for men of any age seeking a non-invasive solution to treat urinary incontinence and an associated improvement in their quality of life.  Patients should be evaluated by a Urologist who will determine if the type of incontinence they are experiencing can be resolved with EMSELLA.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TREATING MEN AND WOMEN WITH EMSELLA?

The clinical effects of EMSELLA treatment are based on the same mechanism of action: the strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles through HIFEM®. The logic of the protocols and the course of treatment remains the same for both men and women.

WHAT IS THE STANDARD TREATMENT TIME FOR MEN?

Typically, the standard procedure consists of 6 sessions spaced every two to three days. However, depending on the type of incontinence and the needs of each patient, it will be the specialist who will determine this, together with the patient’s medical history and complementary studies that will be the guidelines for making the decision.

IS ANY RECOVERY TIME OR PREPARATION BEFORE OR AFTER TREATMENT NECESSARY?

EMSELLA does not require recovery time. You can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure. The treatment resembles an intense pelvic floor workout. During the treatment, the patient must sit on the EMSELLA as directed by the physician, where he/she may feel a tingling or twitching of the area for approximately 30 minutes during the session.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE THE RESULTS?

This may vary depending on your age, physical condition, and other aspects that the urologist will take into consideration. In general, patients begin to feel tangible results directly after the first few treatments. The results usually continue to improve over the next few weeks, and even months after you have completed your prescribed treatment protocol.

URINARY INCONTINENCE IN WOMEN

EMSELLA treatment is an excellent option for women of any age who desire a non-invasive solution to urinary incontinence, intimate discomfort and improved quality of life. Due to factors such as natural aging of the body, childbirth or menopause, the pelvic floor muscles weaken and do not sufficiently support the pelvic organs. These factors are directly related to urinary incontinence and other pathologies.

ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR EMSELLA?

If you answer yes to these three questions, you probably suffer from urinary incontinence.

– Do you experience urinary leakage when you cough, sneeze or participate in sports activities?

– Do you need to go to the bathroom often?

– Have you refrained from intimate relations in recent months because you do not feel secure?

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Treatment with EMSELLA is contraindicated for patients (men or women) who have an electrical implant such as pacemaker, defibrillator, among others, or those patients with metallic implants close to the area to be treated, for example; hip prosthesis, lower lumbar prosthesis, metallic prosthesis of femoral head and patients with coagulation problems without being on medication or who have undergone a recent surgery.
